How to crochet an adorable fall pumpkin.

It’s fall. Let’s make a pumpkin!

My pug isn’t quite sure of what to make of it…

What will you need:

Orange yarn for the pumpkin.

Little bit of brown yarn for the stem.

Little bit of green yarn for the vine.

Appropriately sized crochet hook.

Stitch marker.

Stuffing.

Yarn needle

Method:

1. We will start by making the stem so grab your brown yarn. Make a magic circle and put eight single crochets into it.

2. For the next 8 rows (using a stitch marker) single crochet in each single crochet. If you want your stem longer make a few more rows, or shorter – do a few less.

3. Switch to your orange wool. For row 9, single crochet in the first and in the next do an increase (two single crochets in one stitch) all the way around.

4. Row ten, single crochet in the first two and then increase -all the way around.

5. Row eleven, single crochet in the first three and then increase -all the way around.

6. Row twelve, single crochet in the first four and then increase -all the way around.

7. Row thirteen, single crochet in the first five and then increase -all the way around.

8. Row fourteen, single crochet in the first six and then increase -all the way around.

9. Row fifteen, single crochet in the first seven and then increase -all the way around.

10. Row sixteen, single crochet in the first eight and then increase -all the way around.

11. Row seventeen, single crochet in the first nine and then increase -all the way around.

12. For rows eighteen to twenty-eight, single crochet in each of the stitches around.

13. Row twenty eight, single crochet in first nine and then a decrease – all the way around.

14. Row twenty nine, single crochet in first eight and then a decrease – all the way around.

15. Row thirty, single crochet in first seven and then a decrease – all the way around.

16. Row thirty one, single crochet in first six and then a decrease – all the way around.

17. Row thirty two, single crochet in first five and then a decrease – all the way around. You’re probably gunna want to start stuffing the pumpkin now before the hole gets too small!

18. Row thirty three, single crochet in first four and then a decrease – all the way around.

19. Row thirty four, single crochet in first three and then a decrease – all the way around.

20. Row thirty five, single crochet in first two and then a decrease – all the way around.

21. Row thirty six, single crochet in first one and then a decrease – all the way around.

22. Fasten off leaving a very long tail. With the yarn needle, close up the gap. Then use the remaining yarn to stitch through the pumpkin to create the textured bits.

23. To make the vine, chain 30 and then do two single crochets in each of the chains. This will make it curly. Attach this to the base of the stem.
